Hoi An Eco Green Tour , Vietnam

The one thing I wanted to do in Hoi An was go in a basket boat and so when the lovely staff of the Goda Boutique Hotel recommended a basket boat excursion I jumped at the opportunity. Hoi An Eco Green Tours was the tour operator we selected.

We decided to do a half day tour, which included a bicycle ride into the beautiful rice paddies, then a ride on a water buffalo followed by a quaint ride through the coconut woods in a basket boat and a traditional Vietnamese lunch.

The bicycle ride was a fairly easy one and it involved some gorgeous scenery. We got to see the locals version on Hoi An and not just the tourist view.
When approaching the water buffalo, being from Africa, we were naturally a bit nervous. However, the water buffalo are more like cows than African Buffalo. I jumped at the chance of riding one. It was quiet scary in the beginning as there is no such thing as a 'Water Buffalo' saddle, its just bare back. I was very happy when the handler jumped on with me. I was taken on a short walk through the water. One very interesting and fun experience.

We then walked through the rice paddies and learnt a little about how they harvest and grow the crops.
Much to our delight, the next stop was for refreshments. It was a very hot day and water was definitely needed.

And then my favorite part of the tour was the basket boats. We hoped into these cute little boats for a ride through the water coconut woods. It was so beautiful and green. Its amazing to see the skill that is paddling a basket boat.

We were given the traditional Vietnamese hats to wear, which were needed due to the sweltering sun.
The ride included a lesson in catching crabs and they made us gorgeous jewellery out of the reeds.

We then stopped at a Vietnamese home, where they made us the most delicious traditional lunch.

It was a day well spent and an amazing adventure. I would definitely recommend this tour operator to all. They do offer other tours which you will find on there website

Lots of Love xxx
