Ho Chi Minh City

Well how can I explain Ho Chi Minh City .....busy, busy, busy. Hanoi, the city I used to live in is rather busy, but Ho Chi Minh City is another level of busy.

But besides the buzz of the town there are also a whole lot of positives.

I had the opportunity to visit a whole lot of amazing sites that I really enjoyed.

The Saigon Central Post Office
I visited Ho Chi Minh City in December (I know it was long ago, I have been busy), and so it was around Christmas time. The highlight of the visit to the Post Office for me was seeing little children come and post their letters to Father Christmas. Since living in Asia and being a teacher, children are the first thing I notice wherever I go. I love seeing their reaction to their surrounding or the situations they are put in. But other than the cute children, The Post Office was absolutely beautiful. Clocks representing times of different countries in the world hang from the walls, the roof was half-moon shaped which made the whole place look gorgeous. It also has nice souvenir shops that are always a plus at any site-seeing area.
The outside view is also stunning. It is a yellow building with a gorgeous architectural structure.

Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica
Someone recently pointed out to me that so many of the world famous sights are under-going construction these days, which is true. Unfortunately we have to keep these gorgeous places maintained so that future generations can see them just as we are able to. So my point being that unfortunately some of the Basilica was covered by scaf-folding. But fortunately, we still got to see most of its beauty. As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the Notre Dame in Paris, which of course ties to the colonization of the French. The French are the builders of this beautiful Cathedral. It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral and is definitely a beautiful one. Unfortunately we didn't get to view the inside, I'm sure it wont disappoint either.

The War Remnants Museum
What an incredible museum. I am not much of a museum person but this one filled in so many of the blanks that I always wondered about Vietnam's past. It shows you what the Vietnamese went through during the wars by means of pictures. An incredible place filled with so much history. They also still have the original aviation vehicles that were used.

The Mekong Delta
(However, I have decided to dedicate a whole video to the Mekong Delta so you can watch the beauty in the video below.)

Another site that I didn't visit are the Chi Chi Tunnels. I didn't visit them because small spaces aren't really my thing, but if you are okay with that sort of thing then definitely brave the scary and take a look into Vietnam's crazy history.

Lots of Love xxx

I also posted a video of Ho Chi Minh City. Click the link below to check it out.
